Merchants from the realm descended on London for the North Yorkshire Meals Day.

These there included representatives from Brew York, Ainsty Ales Brewery and Taproom, Malton-based patisserie Florian Poirot, Spirit of Harrogate and Whitby Distillery. 

The occasion was hosted by Thirsk and Malton MP Kevin Hollinrake.

It was attended by consultants from the departments of Surroundings, Meals and Rural Affairs and Enterprise and Commerce, MPs, ministers and shadow ministers, employees from the Commons and Lords and regional representatives from Yorkshire.

Mr Hollinrake stated a “culinary renaissance” is happening throughout North Yorkshire regardless of the challenges dealing with the hospitality trade after the pandemic.

“North Yorkshire’s small companies have proved as resilient as Yorkshire people all the time are,” he stated.

“The importance of supporting native enterprise can’t be overstated, fostering a way of group and preserving the distinctive character of North Yorkshire’s cities and villages.

“By selecting to dine, sip, and store domestically, we contribute to the vibrancy of our excessive streets and the sustainability of our small companies right here in North Yorkshire.”
